AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has confirmed U.S. approval to restart sales of the company’s MI308 AI chips to China, subject to a 15% fee paid to the U.S. government upon sale.
This follows an August indication from the U.S. President that deals were made with AMD and Nvidia allowing some chip exports to China after payment of the fee.
When asked if the AI sector is in a bubble, Dr. Su firmly stated, “absolutely not.” She emphasized the industry’s massive future chip demand from companies like AMD and called such concerns “a little bit overblown.”
The move allows AMD renewed access to the critical Chinese market amid evolving trade rules and geopolitical tensions.
